What Is a Vision Board?
A vision board (also referred to as a manifestation board) is a physical representation of your goals and the desires that you wish to manifest into your physical reality.
Commonly a collage of images and quotes, vision boards are a powerful and popular manifestation and personal development tool. They serve as a motivational reminder of your goals and dreams, and are used to program the subconscious mind with the idea that you have your desires.
Why Use a Vision Board?
If you are looking to glow up your life and call in your desires, this manifestation powerhouse provides an array of benefits.
1) Assists you in cultivating a clear vision of your desired reality.
Creating a vision board is an opportunity to get clear on your desired reality and create a visual of it already being yours by utilising images and quotes that align with your intentions.
A vision board can be divided into different sections, such as health, finances, relationships, career and so on, making this a powerful way to map out your intentions and place them into different categories. This is a sure way to get organised and clear on what your goals are, so that you can begin to execute them and call in the reality where you have already achieved them. Which brings us to my next point…
2) Motivates you and holds you accountable.
Think of your vision board as a clear focal point reminding you of your goals and dreams.
By using images and quotes that hold personal meaning and spark positive emotions, your board serves as a clear visual reminder, which motivates you and holds you accountable when it comes to taking action and claiming the version of you who is already living out your completed dreams and goals.
3) Assists you in creating a plan of action.
A vision board is a visual map of your desires, which allows you to envision and therefore put into place the actionable steps that are aligned with what you desire.
Think of it like a visual guide. Imagine your vision board decorated with images that represent your dream self, who is living out their dreams and has achieved their goals. You can begin to visualise and get clear on the habits your dream self has alongside the daily actions they take, so that you can shift into being that person through aligned action.
4) Saturates your subconscious mind.
Imagine looking at your vision board and saying to yourself, ‘I have my desires’ and ‘This is my new reality’. This is sending a signal to your subconscious mind, which is taking in everything you are thinking.
When you look at your vision board regularly and know that your desires are already yours, you are saturating your mind with this knowing, which is going to rewire your subconscious mind. This will create a new subconscious belief, which will be reflected by your external world because your subconscious beliefs are mirrored by your external world.
5) Boundless creative potential.
Creating a vision board is an opportunity to unleash your inner artist and tap into your endless creative potential.
Your vision board should be unique to you and fun to look at! It doesn’t have to consist of just cliché images that spark no real motivation and joy. There are tons of amazing sources to get images from that truly inspire you, from magazine cutouts, to professional stock photography, Pinterest and everything in between.
It doesn’t stop there, you can edit your images, such as using Photoshop, and you can add other elements such as quotes, decorative pieces and affirmations. We will discuss fun vision board hacks and image sources in more detail later.
6) You can create a digital and/or physical vision board.
When creating a vision board, you can opt for a digital version, a physical version, or both.
Physical vision board examples:
- Adding individual images to a board (e.g. a cork board or cardboard base).
- Creating a collage on a digital device and printing it out.
Don’t feel like having a vision board out on display in your environment? Or perhaps you would prefer to have your vision board stored on a digital device? A digital vision board is a great alternative!
Digital vision board examples:
- Creating a wallpaper for your phone, tablet or laptop.
- Creating a digital collage and storing it in your camera roll.
- Using a Pinterest board as your digital vision board.

Step 1) Get clear on your goals.
Make a list of goals that you wish to incorporate into your vision board. Can these goals be arranged into sections/themes on your board?
You may wish to focus on specific themes and areas of your life, such as:

Now, for adding your chosen elements to your board!
Whether you are sticking images to a physical board or are creating a digital collage, arrange your images in a way that you find appealing, something you want to look at on a regular basis.
You could create planned-out sections on your board, create a maximalist-style collage or arrange the images around a focal point such as a favourite quote or affirmation.
If you are creating a digital vision board, I recommend using an app such as Canva – they have a ton of templates for mobile and desktop wallpapers, etc!
Step 5) Display your vision board in a location where you will see it regularly.
For the last step, display your new board in a place where you will see it every day, such as your wall, office space or save it to your mobile home screen.
Vision Board Tips
1) Use images that hold personal meaning.
Select images that represent your desires in a way that makes sense to you, and that spark emotions when you look at them.
To make your board even more powerful, look for images of a scenario that you can imagine being in, or of images that look like you took them yourself. This is going to send a powerful signal to your subconscious mind and help you to get into the correct mindset – one where you know you have your desires.
2) Edit your images.
Editing images is a fun way to make your board feel more real and personal.
For example, you could edit a screenshot of your bank balance if you wish to manifest reaching a financial goal.
Another example is if you wish to manifest your desired travel experiences, you could edit an image of yourself onto a scenic image of a place on your bucket list to imagine yourself being there.
3) Engage with your vision board regularly.
Look at your vision board every day! Add this to your daily manifestation routine. This will motivate you, keep you on track, and your subconscious mind will become familiar with these images.
4) See it as yours.
When you look at your vision board, see the images as your reality! Know that you have your desires.
Don’t look at it with thoughts of ‘I wish I could have this’… because you can.
Your board is your manifestation tool, and you are the creator of your reality. You hold the power.
5) Pair it with other manifestation methods.
This is one of my all-time favourite manifestation vision board hacks!
Pair your vision board with other manifestation methods for an extra boost.
For example, pairing your vision board with visualisation techniques using the images to further deepen and amplify your visualisation scenes.
Pairing affirmations with a vision board is also super powerful, such as reciting affirmations that match the goals on your board or using general affirmations such as ‘My vision board came to life’ and ‘The desires on my vision board have now manifested’.
6) Take action.
Take actionable steps that align with the desires placed on your vision board.
- Is there a specific goal that you have?
- Can this goal be broken down into smaller steps?
- What habits and mindset does the version of you who has achieved your goals have?
- How can you begin to implement these things into your daily life?
